The LifeChair has been developped for a design course at the University of Twente in collaboration with Escape Mobility Company.
The LifeChair is an adaptation of Escape Mobility Company’s evacuation chair. The original evacuation chair has been developped to transport persons over stairs in the event of a calamity. While the evacuation chair works fine in office environments and straight stairs its nearly impossible to manoeuvre the evacuation chair in spiral or curved stairs. With the LifeChair this problem has been solved by altering the angle of the individual belts, making the chair suitable to be used in domestic environments by paramedics for easy transportation of people in need of help.
